Culture, Community and Play
Outdoor Musical Instruments make perfect additions to an abundance of settings including 'Play Everywhere' projects that allow families to “play” in unexpected places such as downtown areas, playful sidewalks, corridors and play 'parklets'.
We have worked with many organizations such as Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis all with wonderful projects that turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. Transforming spaces that were not previously play areas into musical playgrounds or PLAYces that invite play and foster connections through the simple joy of making music. Some simple chimes or drums can turn a normal sidewalk into a destination for kids and adults to stop and play. Colourful installations of musical instruments such as xylophones, marimbas, and metallophones can encourage collaborative jam sessions with friends or neighbours along a corridor or commonly walked sidewalk or path to school or the local park.
With many creative art subjects being cut back in schools, the opportunity to make or embrace music is increasingly reliant on voluntary groups transforming spaces and creating inspiring musical playgrounds or gardens in the community. Playing a musical instrument should be a fun, challenging, and rewarding experience and a musical soundscape in the community promotes both physical and mental health. Fostering a love of music in the young whilst equally relieving feelings of stress and anxiety in elders.
