Percussion Play Celebrates Second Royal Award with King's Award for Enterprise in International Trade 2024 After Recent Relocation

Percussion Play has achieved two major milestones this month: winning the prestigious King’s Awards for Enterprise for International Trade 2024 and relocating to a state-of-the-art production facility and offices.

The company has made a significant impact with its outdoor musical instruments, increasing its international sales by over 70% in just three years. Currently, nearly 90% of its products are being used to make music outside the country. This achievement has earned the company a prestigious King's Award for Enterprise 2024 in the category of International Trade, recognizing its thriving global business.

Last week, Percussion Play was informed that His Majesty The King had approved the Prime Minister’s recommendation that they should receive the award in acknowledgment of their outstanding growth in overseas sales over the past three years. Winners must have demonstrated that their business has achieved substantial growth in overseas earnings and in commercial success (for their business size and sector) through either outstanding achievement over three years or continuous achievement over six years.

The increase in demand for Percussion Play’s hand-crafted, harmonized instruments means that the company now has clients and distributors in more than 50 countries. Its top five markets are the USA, Australia, Denmark, France, and Lithuania. This is the second time the business has been recognized with a Royal Enterprise award, having picked up the Queen's Award for International Trade in 2021.

The relocation means that the Hampshire-based business has nearly tripled its office and production space – a significant milestone in line with the growth of the business in terms of sales and recruitment. Located in the new award-winning business park, Dunsbury Park, the new home for Percussion Play is now only eight miles north of Portsmouth and benefits from the Freeport status, which includes incentives to encourage economic activity that will certainly support the future growth plans of the company, creating additional job opportunities in the area.

The new two-storey office and workshop boast many eco-friendly features that will help reduce the growing business's carbon footprint. Features such as rainwater harvesting, solar thermal heating, EV charging points, and solar panels have all been installed as part of the development by Portsmouth City Council. Moreover, its BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) 'Excellent' rating and EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) Class A rating provide a sustainable environment that will enhance the well-being of the company’s employees.

Managing Director and Co-Founder of Percussion Play, Jody Ashfield, comments, “It’s been a busy time for us at Percussion Play, and we are thrilled to be able to celebrate our King’s Award in our new home from home. It’s an honor to have our commercial success and growth marked by the highest award available to a UK business. Our outdoor musical instruments can be played across the world in schools, parks, senior living homes, and many other locations to support music therapy and music education. It’s a testament to our amazing team and all their hard work over the last three years that we have been recognized for this prestigious award, with special thanks to our extended family of representatives around the world.”

The Percussion Play Music Suite is now open to those interested in purchasing outdoor musical instruments. A wide range of its instruments are available to play, and customers should get in contact directly with Percussion Play to book a spot at +44 1730 235180 or info@percussionplay.com
